Two first half goals by Ant Hall were enough for The Millers to defeat Market Drayton Town and ensure survival in the North West Counties Football League, a prospect that seemed impossible when Chris Baguley took over the managerial reigns back in October. At that time The Millers sat bottom of the league, with just two points on the board, now they are a team to be feared in the division.
Hall gave The Millers the lead on 16 minutes, Chris Roger’s winning the ball in his own area, his headed clearance launching his side into attack, Harry Dean slipped in Hall who finished supremely. The lead was doubled just after the half hour mark, The Millers awarded a penalty, converted by Hall as he sent the keeper the wrong way from the spot.
With the game in their hands The Millers controlled the play after the interval, introducing all five substitutes before the referee finally brought the game to a close resulting in scenes of celebration that have not been seen at Church Lane for many years.
