After recording a magnificent victory over Abbey Hulton United at weekend The Millers were brought crashing down to earth at Stockport Georgians on Easter Monday, goals in the first and last minute by Harry Lynn bringing their seven game unbeaten run to an end.
The game was barely underway before Lynn’s effort crept past Joey Oldham to give the home side the lead, the first goal The Millers have conceded for over 550 minutes of football and it was the home side who enjoyed the better of the opening period, although neither goalkeeper was seriously tested. The Millers were much improved after the interval, the second-half played almost entirely in the Georgians half although former New Mills junior Nathan Lees forced two excellent stops from Oldham on the break, and finally the visitors equalised on 87 minutes. Sam Deering cut into the area and his shot deflected to Jordyn Fitton who tapped into an empty net to make it 1-1.
The Millers sensed an opportunity to secure all three points and threw bodies forward, but ultimately paid the price for their ambition as Georgians broke away in injury time, Lynn was sent clear on goal and he rounded Oldham before slotting home the winner.
