The Millers secured a vital three points and confirmed their place in the play-offs with a disciplined and deserved 2–0 victory away at Telford Town, overcoming difficult conditions on a bone-dry, hard pitch. With the surface making fluent football a challenge, the opening exchanges were competitive and scrappy, both sides struggling to find rhythm. Clear chances were at a premium, but The Millers gradually began to assert themselves, showing patience and organisation despite the testing conditions.
The breakthrough arrived at the perfect moment, deep into first-half stoppage time. Maysan Bernabia showed real determination to collect a loose ball inside the box and was bundled over as he tried to turn his marker. The referee had no hesitation in pointing to the spot, and Saul Henderson kept his nerve to dispatch the penalty confidently, giving his side a crucial lead heading into the interval.
That goal visibly settled The Millers, and they emerged for the second half with renewed confidence and control. Chris Baguley's team were the better side after the break, managing the game well and limiting Telford’s attacking threat while continuing to ask questions at the other end.
The advantage was doubled on 58 minutes with a moment of real quality. Luc Ferry reacted quickest to a bouncing ball over the top, showing great awareness and composure to race through and head the ball over the onrushing Sam Wollaston in the Telford goal, capping another excellent all-round performance by the subsitute.
Telford pushed late on in search of a way back into the contest and did create opportunities, but The Millers’ defence stood firm. Behind them, Callum Jakovlevs was once again in outstanding form, producing assured handling and calm decision-making to record his 12th clean sheet of the season.
With results elsewhere going their way, the final whistle confirmed not only a deserved away win, but also the securing of a play-off place for The Millers, a fitting reward for a professional and controlled performance under challenging circumstances.
