The Millers secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over Wolverhampton Casuals in a match that improved significantly after a difficult, wind-affected first half.
The opening 45 minutes were scrappy and largely forgettable, with both sides struggling to find any rhythm or quality due to the strong swirling wind that made controlling the ball and delivering accurate passes extremely difficult. The Millers created a few half-chances but failed to test the Casuals goalkeeper meaningfully, while the home side offered very little going forward. The game remained goalless at the break, with the wind playing the biggest role in a disjointed contest.
The second half, however, saw The Millers come out with much greater purpose and quickly take control. Just two minutes after the restart, Millen Brown produced a moment of real quality to open the scoring. Cutting in from the left flank, Brown unleashed a stunning curling strike that flew past the goalkeeper and into the far corner, giving his side a deserved 1-0 lead on 47 minutes.
Chris Baguley’s side continued to press and they were rewarded again on 56 minutes when Saul Henderson calmly converted from the penalty spot. The spot-kick was awarded after Maysan Bernarbia was fouled in the box, and Henderson made no mistake, his low penalty evading the keepers dive to make it 2-0.
The Millers continued to dominate proceedings, and the result was put beyond doubt late in the game when Henderson grabbed his second of the afternoon. With the Casuals defence stretched, the striker produced a fabulous chipped finish over the advancing goalkeeper, rounding off an excellent individual performance and sealing a 3-0 win for the visitors.
Overall, it was a professional second-half display from The Millers after weathering the difficult conditions in the first period. Brown’s wonder strike and Henderson’s brace proved decisive, while the defence remained solid throughout to keep a clean sheet. Three valuable points secured, and a much-improved performance after the interval, ensuring that The Millers maintain their play off push going into the final two games of the season.
