New Mills produced a spirited and disciplined performance to claim a superb 2–1 victory away at Wythenshawe, with goals from Danny Warburton and Millen Brown securing a place in the next round of the Macron Cup.
The Millers got off to a dream start, taking the lead inside just three minutes. Danny Warburton latched onto a loose ball and made no mistake, cleverly clipping past the Wythenshawe keeper to give the visitors an early advantage.
Wythenshawe responded with increasing pressure and were rewarded late in the first half when Bryan Ly converted from the penalty spot to level the score heading into the break.
But The Millers came out strong in the second half, and it was Millen Brown who stole the show with a moment of brilliance in the 56th minute. Picking up the ball on the edge of the box, Brown unleashed a superb strike that flew into the net, restoring the Millers' lead in style.
The home side pressed hard in search of another equaliser, but Chris Baguley's side showed tremendous resilience and organisation at the back. With bodies on the line and a tireless work ethic across the pitch, the Millers held firm to secure a fine win on the road.
A gritty, determined display and a result that will boost confidence as The Millers look to build momentum in the league.
