The Millers Vets recorded a second succsssive victory, this time against a strong West Didsbury & Chorlton side, and will now head into next week’s league opener full of confidence as the team starts to take shape.

Although The Millers were forced to make several changes to the squad from last weekend’s win, they started in impressive fashion. After missing several opportunities they finally took the lead on the quarter hour, Tom Coghill blasting home from 18 yards out. The visitors were made to pay for their wastefulness on the half hour, an intercepted pass in midfield led to a well worked equaliser. The Millers were ahead again at the break as Coghill added a second.

The home side grew stronger after the interval, but The Millers rearguard held firm. Jake Taylor raced in to add a third, before Chris Culkin finished imperiously to make it four on the hour mark. Coghill forced a defensive error, resulting in an own goal, to make the game safe for The Millers, and a late deflected strike proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
