Midfield player joins the Millers

New Mills AFC are delighted to announce that Matt German has agreed to join the club from City of Liverpool FC. Midfield player German, who has also represented Cheadle Town and Stockport Town, began the season at Hallmark Security League Premier Division leaders Runcorn Town before joining City of Liverpool.

German said: "I've known Calum (Sykes) for a number of years and played under him during his spell at Stockport Town, so when the opportunity to come here and play for him again I took it. I've had a mixed start to the season with league leaders Runcorn Town and then City of Liverpool who were in the chasing pack, but distance was a big factor for both of those clubs. I hope to bring experience to the team and help to get them back up the league. I've always given 100% to every club I've played for and that's exactly what I aim to do at New Mills"

Millers boss Calum Sykes said: "We've been huge admirers of Matty for a while now, we saw what an important player he was for Cheadle Town last season, and the start he made to this season at Runcorn Town. He has excellent ability on the ball and he possesses a desire to win that I look for in all my players, he definitely has that in abundance. He's capable of playing in several positions and is as likely to create or score a goal as he is to prevent one. It's been a really good week for the club on the field and bringing a player of Matty's quality to Church Lane is another positive sign, it's a great feeling to be able to bring him to the club. He will be straight into the squad for tomorrow nights game and I'm sure he will soon be a favourite among the Millers fans when they see his relentlous performances"
