After a year of training and playing socially The Millers Women travelled to face Stockport Vikings, in sweltering conditions on Monday evening. Vikings have recently completed their first season of competitive football, and they were fabulous hosts, best wishes to them for the coming campaign.

The Millers were quick out of the blocks, perhaps catching their hosts by surprise considering the conditions, Anne and Amanda providing strength and energy in midfield, with Collette and Chloe proving a real handful in attack. Anne and Chloe helped themselves to two goals each in the opening period, with Chloe also registering two assists, as The Millers led at the break.

With only one substitute the conditions were sure to take their toll on The Millers legs, and that was very much the case as they battled hard to keep the home side out after the interval. Appropriately named Goalkeeper Kat, was magnificent in producing save after save, as well as organising her defence of Cheryl, Caz, Emma and Kirsty, who all battled tirelessly to keep the Vikings at bay.

Amanda rounded off the scoring for The Millers, although Collette was denied by the post following a fine run, and they received hearty congratulations from their hosts on the final whistle, the game played in tremendous spirit throughout.
