New Mills Football Club are delighted that Goalkeeper Joey Oldham has been named as March Goalkeeper of the Month for NWCFL Division One South. When Joey Oldham joined The Millers back in December few supporters realised the quality performer that they were getting. Having impressed on his debut in the win at Cammell Laird just before Christmas and then again in the defeat at Maine Road in January in which he saved a penalty. Oldham spent a spell on the sidelines with injury before returning in spectacular fashion. In spite of conceding three goals agains Droylsden in the 3-3 draw in late February Oldham was outstanding and he took that form into the month of March. The Millers record during the month is quite outstanding, even more so when you consider that they had not kept a clean sheet in the league since the final day of the 2022/23 campaign. Oldham went through the entire month, playing all six games, without conceding a single goal as his side shut out their opponents in every game. It is not just his ability to keep the ball out of the net that makes him so popular with supporters, he organises his defence very well for a young goalkeeper and his distribution is first class. An outstanding month by the goalkeeper and he is deserving of this nomination.
